न चाभिनन्दामि तवाधिराज्यं यतस्त्वमक्षेष्वहिताय सक्त: । स्वयं कृत्वा पापमनार्यजुष्ट - मस्माभिर्वा तर्तुमिच्छस्यरींस्त्वम्
arjuna uvāca | na cābhinandāmi tavādhirājyaṃ yatastvam akṣeṣv ahitāya saktaḥ | svayaṃ kṛtvā pāpam anāryajuṣṭam asmābhir vā tartum icchasy arīṃs tvam ||
अर्जुन उवाच—न चाभिनन्दामि तवाधिराज्यं यतस्त्वमक्षेष्वहिताय सक्तः। स्वयं कृत्वा पापमनार्यजुष्टमस्माभिर्वा तर्तुमिच्छस्यरींस्त्वम्॥
अजुन उवाच
Power and sovereignty are not worthy of praise when founded on self-destructive vice and ignoble wrongdoing; one must take responsibility for one’s own unethical choices rather than seeking others to rescue one from the consequences.
Arjuna rebukes a ruler for being addicted to gambling and for having committed a disgraceful sin; he rejects celebrating that ruler’s authority and criticizes the attempt to rely on others to overcome a vast enemy force after such misconduct.
