Aftermath of Karṇa’s Fall: Śalya’s Address to Duryodhana
dhanuś ca tat keśavāya prayaccha yantā bhaviṣyasi tvaṁ raṇe keśavasyātha
The verse emphasizes role-dharma and disciplined service: entrusting the weapon to Keśava while accepting the charioteer’s duty suggests humility, coordination, and the ethical strength of supporting righteous strategy rather than insisting on personal prominence.
In the midst of the war account, Sañjaya reports an instruction: the bow is to be handed to Keśava (Kṛṣṇa), and the addressed person is to serve as Keśava’s charioteer in battle—indicating a shift in immediate battlefield roles and control of action.
