Bhīma’s surge and dialogue with charioteer Viśoka
drauṇāyaniśaracchannaṁ na prājñāyata kiñcana | bāṇabhūtam abhūt sarvam āyodhanaśiro mahat ||
The verse underscores how unchecked martial force can eclipse discernment: when the battlefield is overwhelmed by weapons, clarity and humane judgment vanish. It implicitly warns that in war, perception and moral orientation are easily obscured, even for observers, as violence becomes all-consuming.
Sañjaya describes the intensity of Aśvatthāman’s arrow-shower. The battlefield is so densely filled and covered with arrows that nothing can be distinguished; the main arena of combat appears transformed into a single mass of missiles.
