Yudhiṣṭhira’s Reproach to Dhanaṃjaya
sañjaya uvāca | putrāṇāṃ te mahāsainyam āsīd rājan parāṅmukham | rājan, tān ākramaṇakārī-vīrāṇām asahya-vegaṃ dṛṣṭvā tava putrāṇāṃ viśālā senā yuddhāt vimukhībhūya palāyitā |
Sanjaya said: O King, your sons’ vast army turned its face away. Seeing the unbearable onrush of those attacking heroes, the great host of your sons lost heart, turned away from battle, and fled. The scene underscores how fear and loss of resolve can undo even a large force when confronted by superior valor and momentum.
