युधिष्ठिरस्य धनंजय-प्रति गर्हा
Yudhiṣṭhira’s Reproach to Dhanaṃjaya
श्रुतकीर्तेर्महाराज दृष्टवान् कर्णविक्रमम् । कुरुवंशी महाराज! युधिष्ठिरके घोड़े थक गये थे; अतः उन्होंने तुरंत ही श्रुतकीर्तिके रथपर आरूढ़ हो कर्णके पराक्रमको देखा
sañjaya uvāca |
śrutakīrter mahārāja dṛṣṭavān karṇavikramam |
सञ्जय उवाच—महाराज, श्रुतकीर्ते रथात् स कर्णस्य विक्रमं ददर्श। युधिष्ठिरस्य अश्वा श्रान्ता आसन्; तस्मात् स त्वरितं श्रुतकीर्ते रथमारुह्य कर्णपराक्रमं व्यलोकयत्।
संजय उवाच
Even amid exhaustion and chaos, a leader must adapt swiftly and remain attentive to the changing field of action; the verse highlights resilience and alertness in fulfilling one’s duty during war, while implicitly pointing to the heavy ethical weight of such conflict.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Yudhiṣṭhira’s horses had become fatigued, so he mounted Śrutakīrti’s chariot and from there witnessed Karṇa’s powerful feats on the battlefield.
