The passage highlights how decisive moments in war depend not only on a warrior’s vow but also on disciplined support and leadership—control of the chariot (reins, horses) symbolizes the need for steadiness, coordination, and responsible kingship amid violent intent.
Sanjaya reports to King Dhritarashtra that Karna is resolved to eliminate other opposing champions and then kill Arjuna, and he repeatedly urges the king to ensure that Karna’s chariot team is properly controlled by taking charge of the reins—emphasizing the tactical importance of chariot management in the coming clash.
