Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 96: Sātyaki’s Line-Penetration, Encirclement, and Advance toward Arjuna
अपश्यंस्तेजसां राशिं सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभम् । “तब एकत्र हुए उन सब देवताओंने ब्रह्माजीके साथ मन्दराचलपर जाकर करोड़ों सूर्योके समान कान्तिमान् तेजोराशि भगवान् शिवका दर्शन किया
apaśyaṃs tejasāṃ rāśiṃ sūrya-koṭi-sama-prabham |
सञ्जय उवाच—ते देवाः सह ब्रह्मणा मन्दराचलं जग्मुः। तत्र ते सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभं तेजसां राशिं ददृशुः—भगवन्तं शिवं, यस्य महत्तेजः परमशक्तेः संकेतं, धर्मनियमेन संयतं च।
संजय उवाच
The verse emphasizes reverent approach to the supreme: divine power appears as unbearable radiance, teaching humility, right intention, and recognition that true authority is grounded in cosmic order (dharma), not mere force.
Sañjaya describes a vision of an immense blaze of light—likened to ten million suns—identified (in the surrounding narration) with Bhagavān Śiva, whom the devas, along with Brahmā, go to behold at Mandarācala.
