Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 96: Sātyaki’s Line-Penetration, Encirclement, and Advance toward Arjuna
एष ते कवचं राजंस्तथा बध्नामि काउ्चनम् । यथा न बाणा नास्त्राणि प्रहरिष्यन्ति ते रणे,राजन! मैं यह सुवर्णमय कवच तुम्हारे शरीरमें इस प्रकार बाँध देता हूँ, जिससे युद्धस्थलमें छूटनेवाले बाण और अन्य अस्त्र तुम्हें चोट नहीं पहुँचा सकेंगे
eṣa te kavacaṃ rājan tathā badhnāmi kāñcanam | yathā na bāṇā nāstrāṇi prahariṣyanti te raṇe ||
एष ते कवचं राजंस्तथा बध्नामि काञ्चनम्। यथा न बाणा नास्त्राणि प्रहरिष्यन्ति ते रणे॥
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights the battlefield ethic of safeguarding one’s leader: protection and preparedness are treated as decisive duties in war, even as they underscore the fragility of the human body amid weapons and violence.
Duryodhana addresses a king and personally fastens a golden armor on him, expressing confidence that it will prevent arrows and other weapons from harming him in the coming fight.
