Educational Q&A

Even in war, effectiveness is not mere strength but disciplined mastery and timely action. Arjuna’s focused use of arrows to neutralize a heavy weapon highlights the ethical ideal of controlled power—skill governed by intent—rather than uncontrolled violence.

Sañjaya narrates that Arjuna, after striking repeatedly with many arrows, instantly shatters Ambaṣṭhakī’s mace into pieces. The event is described as wondrous, emphasizing Arjuna’s prowess and the dramatic reversals typical of the Kurukṣetra battle.
