Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 95 — Sātyaki’s Breakthrough and the Routing of Allied Contingents
एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु सो<च्युतायुर्महारथ: । शूलेन भृशतीक्ष्णेन ताडयामास पाण्डवम्,इसी समय महारथी अच्युतायुने अत्यन्त तीखे शूलके द्वारा पाण्डुकुमार अर्जुनपर प्रहार किया
etasminneva kāle tu so 'cyutāyur mahārathaḥ | śūlena bhṛśatīkṣṇena tāḍayāmāsa pāṇḍavam ||
एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु सोऽच्युतायुर्महारथः । शूलेन भृशतीक्ष्णेन ताडयामास पाण्डवम् ॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the harsh immediacy of battlefield dharma: warriors meet one another through skill and resolve, and outcomes can hinge on decisive action. It invites reflection on how power and intention operate within the constraints of kṣatriya duty, where courage and restraint are continually tested.
Sañjaya reports that, at that moment in the fighting, the great warrior Acyutāyu strikes Arjuna with a very sharp spear (śūla), marking a sudden intensification of the duel and the danger faced by the Pāṇḍava hero.
