अनर्हमाणान् कौन्तेयान् कर्मणस्तस्य तत् फलम् | मैंने अमर्षमें भरकर सदा कष्ट भोगनेके अयोग्य कुन्तीकुमारोंको क्लेश ही दिया है; परंतु मेरे इस बर्तावको द्रोणाचार्यने चुपचाप सह लिया था। उनके उसी कर्मका यह वधरूपी फल प्राप्त हुआ है
an-arhamāṇān kaunteyān karmaṇas tasya tat phalam |
अनर्हमाणान् कौन्तेयान् कर्मणस्तस्य तत्फलम्। दीर्घकालं ममामर्षदग्धेन चेतसा कुन्तीपुत्रान्—अनर्हान् क्लेशस्य—केवलं क्लेशमेव दत्तवानस्मि। तदाचारं द्रोणाचार्यः तूष्णीमेव सोढवान्; तस्यैव कर्मणोऽयं वधात्मकः फलप्राप्तिः समरे मयि प्रत्यागत इति मे मन्ये।
