ध्वस्ताकारं समालक्ष्य शिबिरं परवीरहा । बीभत्सुरब्रवीत् कृष्णमस्वस्थहृदयस्तत:,अपनी छावनीको विध्वस्त हुई-सी देखकर शत्रुवीरोंका संहार करनेवाले अर्जुनका हृदय चिन्तित हो उठा। अतः वे भगवान् श्रीकृष्णसे इस प्रकार बोले--
dhvastākāraṁ samālakṣya śibiraṁ paravīrahā | bībhatsur abravīt kṛṣṇam asvastha-hṛdayas tataḥ ||
ध्वस्ताकारं समालक्ष्य शिबिरं परवीरहा। बीभत्सुरब्रवीत् कृष्णमस्वस्थहृदयस्ततः॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical and psychological burden of warfare: even a capable, duty-bound warrior can be shaken by devastation, and the proper response is to seek clear counsel and steadiness of mind before proceeding.
Sañjaya narrates that Arjuna sees the encampment looking destroyed; his heart becomes uneasy, and he turns to Kṛṣṇa to speak—setting up Arjuna’s request for guidance in the unfolding battle situation.
