व्यास उवाच
Even a renowned ruler can be overpowered when circumstances turn; the verse sets up an exemplum about the instability of fortune in war and the need for steadiness and dharmic judgment amid conflict.
Vyāsa begins an ancient account: in the Kṛta Yuga a king named Akampana, during the decisive moment of a battle, fell into the control of his enemies—introducing a cautionary episode within the larger war narrative.
