The verse links means and ends: warriors should pursue victory and honor through straightforward, pure conduct—'suyuddha'—so that their actions accord with dharma and yield both worldly fame (kīrti) and auspicious posthumous destiny (parāḥ lokāḥ).
Sanjaya describes the combatants’ disposition and equipment: they carry only 'straight' and 'pure' weapons, motivated to fight well and fairly, seeking renown and the reward of higher worlds rather than success through crooked or impure methods.
