शब्द: समभवद् राजन् दिविस्पृग् भरतर्षभ । राजन! भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस समय शंख, भेरी और मृदंगोंकी ध्वनि, गरजते हुए गजराजोंका चीत्कार और फैलाये तथा खींचे गये धनुषोंकी टंकार--इन सबका सम्मिलित शब्द आकाशमें गूँज उठा था

सञ्जय उवाच—राजन्, भरतर्षभ, तदा शङ्खभेरीमृदङ्गानां निनादः, क्रुद्धानां गजराजानां नादश्च, आकृष्टप्रसारितधनुषां टङ्कारश्च—एषां सर्वेषां सम्मिलितः शब्दो दिवं स्पृशन्निवैक एव महाघोषः समभवत्।
