The verse highlights the disciplined intensity of a warrior in battle—repeatedly drawing the bowstring and advancing without hesitation—while also reminding the reader that the Kurukṣetra conflict forces even revered figures like Droṇa into direct confrontation, testing ideals of duty and restraint.
A warrior (not named in this verse) prepares to shoot by fixing arrows to his excellent bow, repeatedly draws the bowstring, and then rushes to attack Droṇa’s gold-adorned chariot, as Sañjaya reports the unfolding combat.
