This line functions as a colophon rather than a moral instruction: it frames the narrative within its textual architecture (parva, sub-parva, chapter). Ethically, it underscores how the epic records war’s escalating intensity—here, night-fighting and the defeat of a named warrior—inviting reflection on the widening scope of violence and its consequences.
The chapter concludes. The text identifies its location: in the Droṇa Parva, within the sub-section concerning Ghaṭotkaca’s slaying, specifically the episode of the night-battle in which Alambuṣa is defeated; it then marks this as the 167th chapter.
