Bhīmasena and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Speeches on Kṣātra-Dharma
तौ सायकैरवच्छिन्नावदृश्येतां रणाजिरे । मेघजालसमाच्छन्नौ नभसीवेन्दुभास्करौ,जैसे कभी-कभी चन्द्रमा और सूर्य आकाशमें मेघोंके समूहसे आच्छादित हुए देखे जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार समरांगणमें वे दोनों वीर सायकसमूहोंसे आच्छन्न दिखायी देते थे
tau sāyakair avacchinnāv adṛśyetāṃ raṇājire | meghajālasamācchannau nabhasīvendubhāskarau ||
सञ्जय उवाच—तौ सायकैरवच्छिन्नावदृश्येतां रणाजिरे। मेघजालसमाच्छन्नौ नभसीवेन्दुभास्करौ॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how the intensity of conflict can obscure clarity and even the most eminent figures—suggesting an ethical warning that war’s violence can eclipse discernment and splendor, much as clouds hide the sun and moon.
Sañjaya describes two warriors in the thick of battle being so densely showered with arrows that they are barely visible, compared to the sun and moon hidden behind a bank of clouds.
