बभौ निशामुखे व्योम खद्योतैरिव संवृतम् । अस्त्रोंके परस्पर टकरानेसे जो चारों ओर चिनगारियाँ छूट रही थीं, उनसे आकाश प्रदोषकालमें जुगनुओंसे व्याप्त-सा जान पड़ता था
babhau niśāmukhe vyoma khadyotair iva saṃvṛtam |
निशामुखे व्योम खद्योतैरिव संवृतं बभौ। अस्त्राणां परस्परसंघट्टात् सर्वतो निःसृताभिः स्फुलिङ्गैः प्रदोषकाले गगनं खद्योतैर्व्याप्तमिवाभात्।
संजय उवाच
The verse offers an ethical contrast: twilight’s natural serenity is visually replaced by the man-made glitter of sparks from clashing weapons. It implicitly highlights how war distorts the world, turning even the sky’s beauty into a sign of destruction.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield at dusk/nightfall. As weapons collide, sparks scatter everywhere, making the sky look as if it is filled with fireflies.
