सर्वथा हतमेवेदं कौरवाणां महद् बलम् | न हास्य विद्यते त्राता साक्षादपि पुरंदर:,“कौरवोंकी यह विशाल सेना अब सर्वथा नष्टप्राय ही है। साक्षात् देवराज इन्द्र भी इसकी रक्षा नहीं कर सकते
sarvathā hatam evedaṃ kauravāṇāṃ mahad balam | na hāsya vidyate trātā sākṣād api puraṃdaraḥ ||
सञ्जय उवाच—सर्वथा हतम् एवेदं कौरवाणां महद् बलम्। न हास्य विद्यते त्राता साक्षाद् अपि पुरन्दरः॥
संजय उवाच
When adharma-driven power loses its inner cohesion—leadership, morale, and righteous support—mere numbers and might cannot save it; the verse uses hyperbole (“even Indra cannot protect”) to stress the inevitability of collapse once the moral and strategic tide has turned.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Kaurava forces have reached a near-ruined state; their ‘great army’ is effectively finished, and no external intervention—even by the king of gods—could now reverse their defeat.
