Adhyāya 141 — Night duels: Śaineya and Bhūriśravas; Droṇi and Ghaṭotkaca; Bhīma and Duryodhana
वैहायसं प्राक्रमद् वै कर्णस्य व्यथयन्मन: । कर्णके धनुषसे छूटे हुए बाणोंद्वारा घायल किये जाते हुए बलवान् भीमसेन कर्णके मनमें व्यथा उत्पन्न करते हुए उसे पकड़नेके लिये आकाशमें उछले || ७४ $ ।। स तस्य चरितं दृष्टवा संग्रामे विजयैषिण:
vaihāyasaṁ prākramad vai karṇasya vyathayan manaḥ | karṇake dhanuṣase chūṭe hue bāṇoṁdvārā ghāyal kiye jāte hue balavān bhīmasena karṇake manameṁ vyathā utpanna karte hue use pakaṛne ke liye ākāśameṁ uchale || 74 || sa tasya caritaṁ dṛṣṭvā saṅgrāme vijayaiṣiṇaḥ
सञ्जय उवाच—कर्णचापच्युतैः शरैर्विद्धोऽपि बलवान् भीमसेनो वैहायसं प्राक्रमद् वै कर्णं ग्रहीतुं, कर्णस्य मनो व्यथयन्। तस्य चरितं दृष्ट्वा संग्रामे विजयैषी (ततः प्रत्यवर्तत)।
