कर्णभीमसेनयुद्धम् | Karṇa–Bhīmasena Engagement
Chapter 111
स विध्यमान: समरे पाण्डवैर्जितकाशिभि:
sa vidhyamānaḥ samare pāṇḍavair jitakāśibhiḥ
स विध्यमानः समरे पाण्डवैर्जितकाशिभिः।
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the harsh ethical reality of war: even renowned warriors and victors are subject to injury and reversal. Martial glory (such as having conquered Kāśī) does not negate the immediate moral and physical consequences of battle.
Sañjaya reports that a certain warrior (contextually identified in surrounding verses) is being wounded in combat by the Pāṇḍavas, described with the epithet 'conquerors of Kāśī,' emphasizing their prowess as they strike him on the battlefield.
