The verse highlights how intense anger (saṅkrodha) in warfare fuels escalation and turns martial prowess into a means of inflicting suffering; it implicitly contrasts rage-driven action with the ideal of disciplined, duty-bound conduct.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that two warrior-brothers, taking up other bows in the midst of battle, become fiercely enraged and shower Arjuna with arrows, causing him severe distress.
