यो5न्वयो मातृकस्तस्य स एनमभिपेदिवान् | संग्राममें पीठ न दिखानेवाला इरावान् जब क्रोधमें भरकर युद्ध कर रहा था, उसी समय उसके मातृकुलके नागोंका समुदाय उसकी सहायताके लिये वहाँ आ पहुँचा
yo 'nvayo mātṛkas tasya sa enam abhipedivān | saṅgrāme pīṭhaṁ na darśayanevāla irāvān yadā krodhena bharan yuddhaṁ karoti sma, tadā tasya mātṛkulasya nāgānāṁ samūhaḥ sahāyatārthaṁ tatra samupāgataḥ ||
सञ्जय उवाच—योऽन्वयो मातृकस्तस्य स एनमभिपेदिवान्। यदा स क्रोधसमाविष्टो युद्धे न पृष्ठं दर्शयन् इरावान् समरे सम्यग् अवर्तत, तदैव मातृकुलसम्भूतानां नागानां गणः सहायार्थं तत्र समुपाजगाम।
संजय उवाच
Even in war, social and ethical bonds—especially kinship duties—remain powerful: allies may be compelled to protect their own, and courage is framed as steadfastness (not turning one’s back) despite danger.
As Irāvān fights fiercely and refuses to retreat, a group of Nāgas connected through his mother’s lineage arrives on the battlefield to assist him.
