अवारयदमेयात्मा वारिवेगानिवाचल: । इन सबको आते देख अमेय शक्तिसम्पन्न भीष्मजीने द्रोणाचार्य, शल्य तथा कृपाचार्यके साथ जाकर उनकी गति रोक दी, मानो किसी पर्वतने जलके प्रवाहको अवरुद्ध कर दिया हो
avārayad ameyātmā vārivegān ivācalaḥ |
सञ्जय उवाच— अवारयदमेयात्मा वारिवेगानिवाचलः। द्रोणेन शल्येन कृपेण च सह गत्वा भीष्मस्तेषां गतिं न्यवारयत्, यथा पर्वतो जलप्रवाहं निरुणद्धि॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness and disciplined restraint in the midst of conflict: true strength is shown not only in striking but also in the capacity to check and contain overwhelming force, holding one’s position in accordance with one’s chosen duty.
As opposing warriors surge forward, Bhīṣma—accompanied by Droṇa, Śalya, and Kṛpa—moves to block their momentum and stop their advance, compared to a mountain damming a powerful current.
