Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
ऋषयश्न महाभागा: पुरस्कृत्य शतक्रतुम् । समीयुस््तत्र सहिता द्रष्ट॑ं तद् वैशसं महत्,नरेश्वरर उस समय देवता, गन्धर्व, पितर, सिद्ध, चारण तथा महाभाग महर्षिगण देवराज इन्द्रकों आगे करके उस भीषण मार-काटको देखनेके लिये एक साथ वहाँ आये
sañjaya uvāca | ṛṣayaś ca mahābhāgāḥ puraskṛtya śatakratum | samīyus tatra sahitā draṣṭuṃ tad vaiśasaṃ mahat ||
ऋषयश्च महाभागाः पुरस्कृत्य शतक्रतुम् । समीयुस्तत्र सहिता द्रष्टुं तद्वैशसं महत् ॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights that the war’s violence is not merely political but morally and cosmically significant: even exalted sages gather to witness it, implying that adharma and its consequences become visible on a grand stage, inviting reflection on responsibility and the cost of conflict.
Sañjaya reports that great sages assemble at the battlefield, with Indra placed at their forefront, to observe the immense carnage unfolding—framing the Kurukṣetra conflict as an event watched by higher beings.
