अलड्कारै: कवचै: केतुभिश्न सुखप्रणादैहेंषितैर्वा हयानाम् । भ्राजिष्मती दुष्प्रतिवीक्षणीया येषां चमूस्ते विजयन्ति शत्रून्
alaṅkāraiḥ kavacaiḥ ketubhiś ca sukhapraṇādaiḥ heṣitaiś ca hayānām | bhrājiṣmatī duṣprativīkṣaṇīyā yeṣāṃ camūs te vijayanti śatrūn ||
व्यास उवाच— अलङ्कारैः कवचैः केतुभिश्च, सुखप्रणादैः सिंहनादैर्वा हयानां हेषितैर्वा, येषां चमूः भ्राजिष्मती दुष्प्रतिवीक्षणीया च भवति— ते शत्रून् अवश्यं विजयन्ते।
व्यास उवाच
External splendor—armor, standards, and confident sounds—signals inner readiness: organization, protection, and morale. Such visible preparedness intimidates opponents and tends to produce victory in battle.
Vyāsa describes the characteristics of a formidable army: it is well-equipped and brilliantly arrayed, with banners and armor, and it resounds with confident cries and the neighing of horses—making it daunting for enemies to face.
