उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
इष्टा वाच: प्रसृता वायसानां सम्प्रस्थितानां च गमिष्यतां च । ये पृष्ठतस्ते त्वरयन्ति राजन् ये चाग्रतस्ते प्रतिषेधयन्ति
iṣṭā vācaḥ prasṛtā vāyasānāṃ samprasthitānāṃ ca gamiṣyatāṃ ca | ye pṛṣṭhatas te tvarayanti rājan ye cāgratas te pratiṣedhayanti ||
व्यास उवाच— प्रस्थितानां गमिष्यतां वा यदा वायसानामिष्टा वाचः प्रसृताः स्युः, तदा सिद्धिलक्षणं मन्यन्ते। राजन्, ये पृष्ठतः क्रोशन्ति ते सिद्धिमिव सूचयन्तः शीघ्रं प्रसरितुं प्रेरयन्ति; ये चाग्रतः क्रोशन्ति ते युद्धगमनात् प्रतिषेधयन्त इव।
