अर्जुन उवाच
Freedom from desire (kāma) and anger (krodha), together with disciplined mind (yata-cetas), makes liberation (brahma-nirvāṇa) immediate and pervasive for the Self-knower (viditātman). The verse emphasizes inner mastery as the ethical and spiritual prerequisite for lasting peace.
Arjuna speaks while seeking clarity on the path to spiritual steadiness amid the impending war. He articulates that true peace is not dependent on external conditions but is accessible to those who have realized the Self and subdued the mind’s turbulent impulses.
