Karma-Yoga, Jñāna-Yajña, and Avatāra Instruction
बुद्धियुक्तो जहातीह उभे सुकृतदुष्कृते । तस्माद् योगाय युज्यस्व योग: कर्मसु कौशलम्
buddhiyukto jahātīha ubhe sukṛtaduṣkṛte | tasmād yogāya yujyasva yogaḥ karmasu kauśalam ||
सञ्जय उवाच— बुद्धियुक्तो जहातीह उभे सुकृतदुष्कृते । तस्माद् योगाय युज्यस्व योगः कर्मसु कौशलम् ॥ समबुद्धियुक्तः पुरुष इहैव पुण्यपापे उभे परित्यजति—तयोः बन्धनफलात् विमुच्यते। तस्मात् समत्वयोगे युज्यस्व; योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्—अबन्धेन कर्मकरणस्य कला।
संजय उवाच
Cultivate yoga as even-mindedness and disciplined understanding so that action is performed skillfully—without attachment to results—thereby becoming free from the binding consequences associated with both merit and demerit.
Sañjaya is reporting Kṛṣṇa’s instruction to Arjuna on the battlefield: Arjuna should adopt yoga (equanimity and inner discipline) so that his duty-bound action does not entangle him in karmic bondage.
