Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how collective resolve in war can override personal ties: once both sides unite and engage, the conflict proceeds with its own force. Ethically, it highlights the tension between familial bonds and perceived kṣatriya-dharma, showing how duty and allegiance are invoked to justify continued fighting.

Sañjaya reports to the king that the Kaurava forces, together with the Pāṇḍavas in close engagement, have formed consolidated battle formations and are fighting intensely as the day reaches midday.
