Book 14, Chapter 89
स्वमंशं भगवान् व्यास: कुन्त्यै साक्षाद्धि मानत: । प्रददौ तस्य महतो हिरण्यस्य महाद्युति:
svam aṁśaṁ bhagavān vyāsaḥ kuntyai sākṣād dhi mānataḥ | pradadau tasya mahato hiraṇyasya mahādyutiḥ ||
वैशम्पायन उवाच—भगवान् व्यासः स्वमंशं तस्य महतो हिरण्यराशेः प्राप्तवान्; स तं महाद्युतिः साक्षादेव मानतः कुन्त्यै प्रददौ।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Rightfully obtained wealth attains higher value when offered with reverence to a deserving recipient; dharma is expressed not only in acquiring justly but also in giving honorably and compassionately.
During the Ashvamedhika Parva context of post-war rites and distributions, Vyāsa receives a share of a large quantity of gold and then personally presents his portion to Kuntī as a respectful gift.
