Abhimanyu’s Śrāddha; Vyāsa’s Assurance of the Unborn Heir (अभिमन्योः श्राद्धं तथा गर्भरक्षणोपदेशः)
अभिमन्यो कुशलिनो मातुलास्ते महारथा: । कुशल चाब्रुवन् सर्वे त्वां युयुत्सुमिहागतम्,“अभिमन्यो! तुम्हारे सभी महारथी मामा सकुशल हैं और युद्धकी इच्छासे यहाँ आये हुए तुमसे उन सबने तुम्हारा कुशल-समाचार पूछा है
abhimanyo kuśalino mātulās te mahārathāḥ | kuśalaṃ cābruvan sarve tvāṃ yuyutsum ihāgatam ||
वैशम्पायन उवाच—अभिमन्यो! ते मातुलाः महारथाः कुशलिनः। सर्वे च युयुत्सवोऽत्रागत्य तव कुशलं पृष्टवन्तः।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even amid martial intent, dharmic conduct preserves social order: warriors first exchange kuśala-praśna (inquiry after welfare), affirming kinship and responsibility before conflict.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Abhimanyu’s maternal uncles—renowned fighters—have arrived, eager for battle, and collectively ask Abhimanyu about his well-being while stating that they themselves are safe.
