Ethics of Non-attachment
य एवं वृत्तसम्पन्न: स मुनि: श्रेष्ठ उच्यते । जिस कामके करनेसे समाजके दूसरे लोग अनादर करें
ya evaṁ vṛttasampannaḥ sa muniḥ śreṣṭha ucyate |
वायुरुवाच—य एवं वृत्तसम्पन्नः स मुनिः श्रेष्ठ उच्यते। यत्कर्म कुर्वतः समाजस्य जनाः परिभवं कुर्वन्ति, तत्कर्म स शान्तः सदा धर्म्यं कृत्वा प्रवर्तेत; सत्पुरुषाणां धर्मं तु कदाचन न निन्देत्। एतादृशवृत्तसम्पन्नः स एव श्रेष्ठो मुनिरुच्यते।
वायुदेव उवाच
True excellence in a sage lies in steady, disciplined conduct: remain calm and continue righteous action even when society disrespects it, and never disparage the dharma upheld by virtuous people.
Vāyudeva is instructing about the marks of a superior muni, defining spiritual greatness not by status or praise but by unwavering ethical behavior and reverence for the dharma of the good.
