ब्राह्मण कहते हैं--प्रिये! इस विषयमें विद्वान् पुरुष इस प्राचीन इतिहासका उदाहरण दिया करते हैं। दस होता मिलकर जिस प्रकार यज्ञका अनुष्ठान करते हैं, वह सुनो
brāhmaṇa uvāca—priye! asmin viṣaye vidvāṁsaḥ puruṣāḥ imaṁ prācīnam itihāsam udāharaṇam āharanti. daśa hotāraḥ samāgatā yathā yajñasya anuṣṭhānaṁ kurvanti, tat śṛṇu.
ब्राह्मण उवाच—प्रिये, अस्मिन् विषये विद्वांसः पुरुषाः प्राचीनमितिहासमुदाहरन्ति। दश होतारः समागत्य यथा यज्ञमनुतिष्ठन्ति, तत् शृणु ॥
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse frames ethical instruction through precedent: wise people rely on ancient itihāsa to clarify right conduct, and it highlights the importance of properly performed yajña through coordinated, disciplined officiants.
A Brahmin addresses a beloved listener and introduces an old illustrative story, inviting them to hear how ten ritual priests together conducted a sacrificial rite.
