Vyāsa’s Inquiry into Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Tapas and the Identification of Vidura with Dharma
भीमं च बलिनां श्रेष्ठ सान्त्वयामास पार्थिव:
bhīmaṃ ca balināṃ śreṣṭha sāntvayāmāsa pārthivaḥ
भीमं च बलिनां श्रेष्ठं पार्थिवः सान्त्वयामास—धर्मेण शोकं निगृह्य धैर्यं स्थापयितुम्।
युधिछिर उवाच
Even the mightiest require emotional steadiness; a righteous king or elder should offer sāntvana (consolation) to restrain grief and guide others back to dharma and self-control.
In this moment of sorrow, the speaker indicates that the king (understood as Yudhiṣṭhira in context) comforts Bhīma, acknowledging him as the foremost among the strong and attempting to calm his distress.
