विदितं चापि राजेन्द्र विदुरस्य महात्मन: । गमनं विधिनानेन धर्मस्य सुमहात्मन:,'राजेन्द्र! महात्मा विदुरके, जो साक्षात् महामना धर्मके स्वरूप थे, इस विधिसे परलोकगमनका समाचार तो तुम्हें ज्ञात हुआ ही होगा
viditaṃ cāpi rājendra vidurasya mahātmanaḥ | gamanaṃ vidhinānena dharmasya sumahātmanaḥ ||
विदितं चापि राजेन्द्र विदुरस्य महात्मनः । गमनं विधिनानेन धर्मस्य सुमहात्मनः ॥
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores Vidura’s ethical stature: he is identified with Dharma itself, implying that steadfast righteousness culminates in an orderly, sanctioned departure—an end aligned with cosmic law rather than mere mortality.
Vaiśampāyana reminds the king that Vidura’s passing is already known: Vidura, portrayed as Dharma incarnate, has departed for the next world by a particular, rule-governed manner previously described in the narrative.
