जगदग्निरुवाच जाजमद्यजजाने5हं जिजाहीह जिजायिषि । जमदग्निरिति ख्यातस्ततो मां विद्धि शोभने
jagadagnir uvāca | jājām adyajajāne ’haṃ jijāhīha jijāyiṣi | jamadagnir iti khyātas tato māṃ viddhi śobhane ||
जमदग्निरुवाच— अद्याहं देवतानामाहवनीयाग्निजो जातः। तस्माज्जमदग्निरिति ख्यातो मां विद्धि शोभने॥
विश्वामित्र उवाच
The verse emphasizes dharmic legitimacy through sacred origin: identity and authority are anchored in yajña (sacrifice) and the consecrated āhavanīya fire, suggesting that spiritual stature is tied to ritual purity and divine sanction.
A figure named Jagadagni speaks and declares that he has been born from the gods’ sacrificial fire; on that basis he instructs the addressed woman (‘O fair one’) to recognize him by the renowned name Jamadagni.
