प्रतिग्रहभेदः — The Distinction between Giving and Accepting
Vṛṣādarbhī–Saptarṣi Dialogue
तत: संचिन्तयामास श्राद्धकल्पं समाहित: । प्रातःकाल जागनेपर उनका मन पुत्रशोकसे व्यथित होता रहा; किन्तु उनकी बुद्धि बड़ी विस्तृत थी। उसके द्वारा उन्होंने ममनको शोककी ओरसे हटाया और एकाग्रचित्त होकर श्राद्धवेधिका विचार किया
tataḥ sañcintayāmāsa śrāddhakalpaṃ samāhitaḥ | prātaḥkāle jāgane para putraśokena vyathito ’bhavat; kintu tasya buddhir vipulā āsīt | tayā sa manaḥ śokāt apākarot, ekāgracitto bhūtvā śrāddhavedikāṃ vicārayāmāsa |
ततः संचिन्तयामास श्राद्धकल्पं समाहितः ।
भीष्म उवाच
Even when overwhelmed by personal grief, one should steady the mind through discernment and fulfill dharma—here, the duty of performing śrāddha with proper procedure and focused attention.
The person described awakens at dawn still pained by sorrow for his son, but regains composure, turns his mind away from grief, and begins planning the correct śrāddha rites, including the preparation of the ritual altar (vedikā).
