Regular performance of śrāddha is presented as a dharmic act that brings satisfaction to the ancestors, and Bhīṣma frames the next instruction as a careful ethical-ritual guide: understanding which tithis and which forms of hospitality carry merit or fault.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhīṣma continues his discourse and announces a forthcoming detailed explanation about (1) the qualities and defects associated with different lunar dates for rites and (2) the proper standards of receiving guests (ātithya).
