Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
ततो मां दर्शयामासु: स्वप्नान्ते पितरस्तथा । प्रीयमाणास्तु मामूचु: प्रीता: सम भरतर्षभ
tato māṁ darśayāmāsuḥ svapnānte pitaras tathā | prīyamāṇās tu mām ūcuḥ prītāḥ sam bharatarṣabha ||
ततो मां दर्शयामासुः स्वप्नान्ते पितरस्तथा। प्रीयमाणास्तु मामूचुः प्रीताः स्म भरतर्षभ॥
भीष्म उवाच
That proper conduct—especially duties connected with honoring the ancestors—bears fruit: the Pitṛs become pleased and communicate their satisfaction, symbolizing moral and ritual approval within the dharma framework.
Bhīṣma recounts a dream-vision in which the Pitṛs reveal themselves to him at the dream’s end and speak words of gratification, addressing the listener (Yudhiṣṭhira) as ‘Bharatarṣabha.’
