भीष्म उवाच
The verse sums up Bhishma’s instruction that different forms of charitable giving—food, sesame, land, and cows—have praised and specific fruits (phala). It emphasizes dāna as a central ethical duty within dharma, where generosity, offered properly, becomes a source of spiritual merit.
Bhishma, instructing as a teacher of dharma, concludes a section describing the results of various donations. The line functions as a closing statement, marking that he has finished proclaiming the fruits of these key acts of charity.
