The verse praises ghṛta (ghee) as supremely beneficial: it sustains the body as a remedy, sanctifies sacrifice as the best ritual substance, and represents the finest ‘taste’ and ‘fruit’—meaning it yields excellent outcomes when used in righteous, prescribed ways.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhishthira on dharma and right conduct. Here he highlights the religious and practical importance of ghee within sacrificial practice and as a valued substance associated with purity, nourishment, and auspicious results.
