युधिछिर उवाच
The verse frames an ethical inquiry into the causes of human attachment and dispassion in relationships, inviting a dharma-based analysis of desire, character, and conduct rather than mere impulse.
Yudhiṣṭhira, seeking guidance, addresses Bhīṣma and asks why men pursue women’s company and what makes women become attached to, or turn away from, men—setting up Bhīṣma’s instruction on social and moral conduct.
