The verse teaches a dharmic posture of reverence toward the principal divine powers that uphold the world—order, life-breath, light, rain, fire, stability/ascetic power, protection, prosperity, and creation—suggesting an inclusive honoring of the cosmic functions embodied by these deities.
Nārada is speaking and enumerates a set of major deities to be honored/remembered. The line functions as a devotional or prescriptive list within the Anuśāsana Parva’s broader instruction on righteous conduct and religious duties.
