भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches that dharmic life includes tangible acts of reverence toward one’s teachers—salutation, proper honoring, and offering a seat—and that such guru-reverence is said to bring growth in longevity, reputation, and prosperity.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs on right conduct (ācāra). Here he lays down a specific rule of etiquette and duty: when a guru arrives, one should respectfully greet, worship/honor, and seat them, emphasizing the ethical and beneficial consequences of such conduct.
