Umā–Maheśvara Saṃvāda
अपना छा | अ-क्राछ अष्टाविशर्त्याधेकशततमो< ध्याय: वायुके द्वारा धर्माधर्मके रहस्यका वर्णन वायुरुवाच किंचिद् धर्म प्रवक्ष्यामि मानुषाणां सुखावहम् । सरहस्याश्च ये दोषास्तान् शृणुध्वं समाहिता:
vāyur uvāca | kiñcid dharmaṃ pravakṣyāmi mānuṣāṇāṃ sukhāvaham | sa-rahasyāś ca ye doṣās tān śṛṇudhvaṃ samāhitāḥ ||
वायुरुवाच— किञ्चिद् धर्मं प्रवक्ष्यामि मानुषाणां सुखावहम्। सरहस्याश्च ये दोषास्तान् शृणुध्वं समाहिताः॥
धौग्य उवाच
Dharma should be learned not only as a set of rules but along with the subtle, often hidden roots of moral failure (doṣa). Attentive listening and mental composure are presented as prerequisites for ethical understanding.
A didactic section begins: the Wind-god Vāyu announces that he will briefly expound a happiness-giving dharma for humans and will also disclose the associated faults with their underlying ‘secrets,’ asking the audience to listen with focused minds.
