Educational Q&A

Steadfast forbearance (kṣānti), sustained over long periods and supported by devoted discipline, can transform one’s spiritual standing; inner qualities and tapas are presented as decisive for attaining brahminhood.

Aṅgiras cites Viśvāmitra as an exemplar: through enduring hardships for thousands of divine years with single-minded devotion, Viśvāmitra ultimately attains vipratva (the status of a brāhmaṇa).
