Prosperity (Śrī/Lakṣmī) is portrayed as inseparable from character: she abides with the person who is competent and dutiful, free from anger, devoted to divine order, grateful, self-controlled, and grounded in elevated sattva (clarity and moral strength).
Bhīṣma reports Śrī’s own statement describing the virtues in a person that become the ‘abode’ of Lakṣmī—linking inner discipline and devotion with lasting auspiciousness.
