वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical ideal that true authority and nobility can manifest through tapas (discipline) and tejas (inner radiance), not through ornaments or power. Ascetic markers—bark-garments and matted locks—signal self-restraint and dharmic resolve.
Vaiśampāyana is describing the striking appearance of a figure who arrives or is seen: sunlike in brilliance, dressed as an ascetic, lotus-faced, and seemingly blazing with spiritual energy—setting a tone of reverence and significance for the ensuing episode.
